Cobden–Stonyford Road Upgrade

Project Overview
Whelans Group delivered targeted road upgrades along Cobden–Stonyford Road, improving safety, durability and reliability for a key regional freight route supporting the dairy industry.
The project formed part of the Dairy Supply Chain Upgrades program and involved coordinated pavement rehabilitation and safety improvements within a live rural corridor.
Works were staged to maintain access for freight, agricultural operators and local road users throughout delivery.
Scope of Works
Pavement rehabilitation including stabilisation, reconstruction and shoulder widening (approximately 2.7 km)
Driveway construction, clearing and bulk earthworks
Drainage upgrades and water management improvements
Installation of guard fencing and roadside safety barriers
Relocation of existing services
Traffic management within a live corridor
Installation of new signage and pavement markings
Site preparation, clean-up and removal of surplus materials

Outcome
The Cobden–Stonyford Road Upgrade reached a key milestone with the road reopening to traffic following completion of major works.
All primary construction activities—including pavement rehabilitation, drainage works and safety upgrades—were completed under controlled staging conditions, with final finishing works continuing during project close-out.
The upgraded corridor now provides improved safety, durability and performance for road users, supporting more reliable freight movement and strengthening regional infrastructure.
