Overview
Whelans Group delivered concurrent pavement renewal and safety upgrade packages across multiple locations along the Great Ocean Road and key inland routes.
The program spanned dispersed sites across coastal and regional Victoria, requiring coordinated delivery within environmentally sensitive and high‑traffic tourism corridors.
Work Package 1 – Renewal
February 2024 to May 2025
Value: $26.1 million
Resurfacing and reconstruction works were undertaken across 11 locations including Winchelsea, Princetown, Peterborough, Nullawarre and Allansford.
Scope included:
Clearing and excavation
Pavement reconstruction and strengthening
Drainage upgrades
Asphalt surfacing
Road barrier installation
Linemarking
Work Package 2 – Safety
July 2024 to May 2025
Value: $9.4 million
Safety upgrades were delivered across nine locations between Fairhaven and Jan Juc, alongside key intersection upgrades at Mepunga, Nullawarre and Nirranda.
